On October 13th 2005 the Bette Rae Thomas Recreation Center had its Inaugural Opening Ceremonies.
With visitors like the Mayor, City Council, The Police Chief, and Dell Curry Foundation, players from the 14u teams were asked to have the honor of being the first to play in the new facility. The spectators were amazed at the competition level and size of some of the players. Many players could not attend but the handful that did gave the crowd and community something special. I think Bette Rae Thomas would be proud if these youngsters. Players that attended were, Gary Pollard, Kendall Williams, Jamar Simmons, Jordan Downing, Jacoby Davis Jr, Marquise Rankin, Manny Dias, Deandre Tillman, Corey Davis,Kris Coleman, Gene Anthony, Reynolds Maharajh, Isiah Goldwire, and Charles Morrison.
